Teaching Dogs is a magazine for
dog trainers and enthusiasts focussing on the modern
methods of positive training.
Clicker training is a regular
feature, with positive management techniques and
relationship development - the “holistic”
positive learning experience.
“Training for all
types of dogs” means
all types of dogs wanting to learn all types of things!
Our focus is on the ALL, not just the clever and bright
dogs that seem to learn in spite of our failings.
Our measure of an effective
training method is:
u it can be applied by many people of
different skill levels
u it can be applied to 99% of all known
dogs (and a few unknown dogs too!)
Editor and author is Kay
Laurence, is a world famous trainer and teacher, and
can now add “TV Judge” to her list of
accomplishments, recently featuring on the BBC2 show
The Underdogs. In the past few years she has run
seminars across America, Canada, Germany, Austria,
Italy, France, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia
as well as regular seminars and workshop in the UK. In
2006 she featured again as a key speaker at the Clicker
Expo in Minneapolis MN, Tucson AZ and Newport RI, for
Karen Pryor Clicker Training, and in 2007 in Los
Angeles and Cleveland.
Her unique expertise of combining
teaching with training and extensive travel has lead to
a world wide reputation for this magazine. It is the
recommended reading material for several university and
college courses. Many articles are written by experts
across a range on interests and from all over the
world.
Clicker training allows us to
teach our dogs many, many more behaviours than were
previously thought possible. We now look far wider at
different interests and think nothing of enjoying 2 or
three main hobbies in a dog’s lifetime, plus
teaching selected behaviours from other walks of life.
