Welcome to Wag More Barn

We are situated on a working farm in Gloucestershire, nearly a mile from the nearest road. Access may be tricky in extreme weather, but it means the dogs are safe from traffic, we can train in a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere, and the dogs noticeable reduce stress levels through the day.

The Barn is fully carpeted. Odd for a dog training centre you may think, but we have very few accidents, and the dogs and people both settle well. Comfort is important when you are learning. We also find that the dogs move well on the surface. This is particularly important to give confidence for puppies and any activities where balance, turning speed and grip is important. We love the carpet, but we hate the vacuuming!

Heating can be a challenge in the winter, so please remember to dress warm. During the summer you must make a note to bring covering for the car as parking under shade is limited.

The Barn has a kitchen area, with fridge, microwave and kettle.

All our merchandise is available in the shop area, and we have an extensive range of training equipment for the classes: cones, poles, jumps, tunnels, mats, shaping objects, faux dogs. We also have the Wagmore Library. You are welcome to browse these books, but need to pay a deposit to borrow a book.

A Wag More day ..

We want your experience with us to be enjoyable and as stress free as possible. Your behaviour will impact on other people, we would just like to remind you of the courtesies that make the day a "Wag More Day" for everyone:

• The exercise area for the dogs is the grass around the car parking. ALL areas are pick up zones, bags are provided. You must take all your own rubbish home with you.
• No loose dogs in the car park, or on the track leading to the field
• The Training Field may only be used as part of a class. It is not open outside these times. 
• Dogs cannot be left in cars if they will continually bark. Please ask for help or book onto a Lifeskills workshop and invest in beneficial training - for both the car and the dog.
• In winter you will need boots if you are participating in field work. No muddy boots in the barn, please change, and check the dogs are not coming in with muddy feet either.
• No Water Bowls on the carpet areas
• You must take all your own rubbish home with you.

WagMore Training Gear: You are welcome to use training equipment, cones, jumps, shaping articles etc, but not to borrow. Please make doubly sure anything you use is returned to the right boxes.

Before you leave: check you have left no poo bags or litter around your car, it is easy for things to drop out when opening doors or forget the poo bags. That all the gear you have used has been put away, chairs away, and you have all your belongings - our lost property cupboard is getting fuller every week.

Public Transport to Mickleton

By Air:

• Heathrow Airport: Airbus to Reading or Oxford Bus Station: Train to Honeybourne: Taxi to Accommodation (please book in advance).
• Birmingham Airport: Bus to Digbeth Bus Station: Bus to Stratford: Bus to Mickleton.

By Train:

• Nearest Station is Honeybourne (10 minutes by taxi). Paddington - Worcester line. Then taxi, booked in advance, to Accommodation or to WagMore Barn. There is no telephone at Honeybourne Station.

Directions to the Wag More Barn

Our Centre is at the WagMore Barn just outside Mickleton, Glos.

From Mickleton Village (on the Stratford to Broadway Road) take the road opposite Nisa Shop signposted to Broad Marston. Look at your mileometer - the turning for WagMore is EXACTLY 1 MILE along this lane, it is very easy to miss as you admire the countryside!

You will see the triangular road sign to warn of a bend to the left, ON THAT BEND is a track between two houses. The House on the left is Willow Tree House (selling honey and free range eggs). If you are using a SATNAV the postcode for this house is GL55 6SG.

Turn up this track for three-quarters of a mile. As you near the farm buildings you will see our barn to your right “Learning About Dogs”. Parking is directly in front of the Barn.

Coming to Class

Please remember this is a working farm. No dogs are allowed to run off lead. The area you can walk your dogs is clearly marked and only that area can be used. Please respect this and DO NOT walk your dogs anywhere else. Anything that your dog deposits must be picked up and taken home - bags are available at the centre.

We welcome dogs that are comfortable in a class environment, dogs that are going to be over stressed should attend the specialised workshops, or initially book for private lessons.

You are welcome to bring bedding for the dog to rest, whilst you focus on your own learning, this can be a long day for the dogs. Puppies over 12 weeks old are welcome to attend, but please do not bring bitches in season. Bring a dog bowl for water, plain collar and lead. If you are bringing non-participative dogs you must ensure they are content and safe to leave in your car, and will not become stressed or bark excessively. You may bring cages for the dogs.

Bring PLENTY of titbits - this is the equivalent of one week's training in one day. We recommend small squares of sliced cooked sandwich meats. Dried food, packaged commercial titbits and sausages will make the dogs too thirsty with the amount of work we may cover.

Learning is tremendous fun, challenging and an opening to a whole new absorbing interest. We are lucky to have great teachers and plenty of interested trainers to help you on a one-to-one basis. Please let us know if you have any particular needs we can help you with.

We are situated just outside Mickleton Village. The area is very well resourced in good accommodation to suit most budgets.
